Description
Designed by José Carlos Loureiro as a home and studio for Júlio Resende, the House Studio is one of the most notable examples of modern Portuguese architecture associated with the Porto School. Set on a hillside overlooking the Douro, the house is composed of staggered volumes that follow the topography of the land, revealing a particularly sensitive relationship with the landscape. The use of granite, the domestic scale of the spaces and the integration of the living quarters and studio reflect an exemplary synthesis of modernity, building tradition and the site itself. Conceived from the outset to accommodate Júlio Resende’s life and artistic practice, it stands as a rare testament to the relationship between architecture and artistic creation in Portugal.
